General information

The program provides specialized knowledge and clinical skills for the treatment of teeth presented pulp and periapical diseases as well as traumatic dental injuries, while fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and communication with colleagues from other specialties to ensure comprehensive patient care.

Admission procedure

The selection of students is carried out in accordance with the applicable legislation and the provisions of the MSc Regulation.

During the spring semester, following a decision by the Assembly of the School of Dentistry of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, an official announcement regarding the admission of postgraduate students to the MSc program is published and posted on the School of Dentistry website. Applications, along with the required supporting documents, must be submitted to the School of Dentistry Secretariat within the deadline specified in the announcement, which may be extended by the decision of the School of Dentistry Assembly.

The announcement specifies the maximum number of admissions per specialization, as well as the academic year and semester in which newly admitted students will commence their studies.

Following a recommendation by the Board, the Assembly appoints a selection committee for each specialization, comprising at least three faculty members actively involved in teaching activities within the program.

Recognition of Degrees from Foreign Institutions

For applicants holding degrees from foreign institutions who do not provide a certificate of academic recognition from the Hellenic National Academic Recognition and Information Center (DOATAP), the following procedure applies:

The Department Assembly appoints a specialized committee responsible for determining the recognition status of the foreign institution or the specific type of degree awarded. In order for a degree to be recognized, the following criteria must be met:

(a) The awarding institution must be included in the official list of foreign institutions maintained and regularly updated by DOATAP.
(b) Additionally, a Certificate of Place of Study, issued directly by the foreign university and sent to the Department at secr@dent.uoa.gr, is required. The certificate must follow the official template available at: https://www.doatap.gr/anagnorish/ypodeigmata-vevaioseon-topou-spoudon/. If any part of the studies was conducted within Greek territory, the degree is not recognized unless the coursework undertaken in Greece was completed at a public university.

Documents issued by foreign institutions must be authenticated for signature validity in accordance with the Hague Convention (Apostille stamp). For countries that have not ratified the Hague Convention, authentication must be conducted by the Greek Consular Authorities. Furthermore, all foreign documents must be officially translated and certified by the Translation Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or by a certified lawyer.

Evaluation and Selection Criteria

The selection of candidates for the Endodontics specialization is based on the following criteria:

  • Bachelordegree grade– 7%
  • Average grade in undergraduate courses relevant to the specialization – 15%
  • English language (intermediate to high level) – 5%
  • Second undergraduate or postgraduate degree in a related scientific field – 5%
  • Publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals (published or accepted for publication) – 5%
  • Presentations at scientific conferences – 3%
  • Written examinations – 30%
  • Oral interview – 30%

Selection Process

The selection process for each specialization is conducted in multiple stages:

  1. First Stage: Applications that are incomplete, missing required supporting documents, or submitted after the deadline are disqualified.
  2. Second Stage: A ranking list is compiled based on the evaluation criteria specific to each specialization. Each criterion is graded on a scale of 0 to 10, rounded to one decimal place, and then multiplied by its respective weighting factor. The sum of these weighted scores determines the total ranking score.

In the event of a tie (mathematical rounding to the nearest whole number out of 10), the tied candidates will be admitted, provided that their number does not exceed 10% of the maximum number of available admissions.

Candidates accepted in the postgraduate program must register with the MSc Secretariat within thirty (30) days of the official decision of the Assembly.

If any selected candidate fails to complete the registration process, the next highest-ranked applicants (if available) will be invited to enroll based on their ranking in the approved evaluation list.

Applicants can submit an appeal within fifteen (15) days of the Assembly’s decision concerning the final list of admitted students.
