AIM

Purpose of this course is to teach the students the basic knowledge and principles of general surgery.

CONTENT OF THE COURSE

Clinical examinations and investigations for the surgical patient; Bleeding of upper and lower astrointestinal system; Acute abdomen; Obstruction; Shock; Deep venous thrombosis; Pneumothorax – Haemothorax; Neck swellings; Management of patients on anticoagulation; Management of multi trauma patients; Swelling of thyroid gland; Surgical infections.

EDUCATIONAL METHODS

• Clinical training.

• Successful final examination.
